On Friday 9th July 2010, 21 year 9 students took part in the Modern Foreign Languages Challenge Day. The students were split into teams and practised their language skills through a series of games designed to encourage their confidence in using French to communicate their ideas. The students were presented with a Murder Mystery task and were given information about a series of characters. They were asked to decide who they thought the murderer was, give reasons for their decisions and present these characters to the rest of the group in French. From there, the teams organised themselves for the next activity - the running dictation. For this activity, the students were given the freedom to decide how they would manage the task in their groups. One student from each group was given one minute to study a list of clues to the crime that would help them to narrow down their list of suspects. Once the time limit had elapsed, students returned to feedback the information they could remember to their groups. Finally, based on the information received throughout the day, students were encouraged to discuss who they suspected as the murderer in the mystery. They were also asked to produce a piece of written French explaining their judgements and decisions. A huge thank you to the following students involved in the day: Billie Argent 9B2, Leo Atkinson9F1, Louisa Bourlet 9B2, Maegan Brooks 9F2, Shehzaad Chikte 9B2, Eris Crawford 9P1, Amber Da Cuna 9P1, Maryam Darr 9G1, Sertac Dirik 9G2, Che Kelly-Olukoya 9B2, Kate Kelleher 9G1, Brooke Lucy 9P1, Junaid Matlub 9F1, Glorianne Ngonge 9B2, Ellie Phillips 9G1, Fabio Primavera 9G2, Kush Shah 9G1, Harry Spillane 9G2, , Khadija Stone 9G2, Meliz Sucuoglu 9G2 and Eliz Sucuoglu 9P1, All of them worked fantastically well together in a very mature manner.
