The new government has announced some of its intentions in the world of education. One of the first is to offer all schools the chance to gain Academy status.
At a meeting of the governing body of Highams Park school on 24th June, after due consideration, a resolution was made to apply for Academy status. The headteacher and chairman of governors have written to all registered parents of pupils in the school to inform them of the decision and explain some of the reasons behind that decision.
News of the school's application to become an Academy status will appear here as more information becomes available.

Highams Park will not be one of the first schools to convert to be an Academy in September 2010. We are planning to continue to run as a Voluntary Aided School for the coming year. Governors will reconsider continuing with our original application at the appropriate time and in the light of the emerging Regulations about Academies. Governors will endeavour to make decisions that are judged to be in the best interests of the school, and will continue to explore all opportunities that may benefit the school.
