Watch the teachers Video again!!
Thursday 6th May was a day to remember when year 11 students celebrated 5 years of success and achievement at Highams Park. An afternoon assembly hosted by Ore Bankole, Ashley Rennalls and Kurtis Brown, was seen by over 250 students all of whom were thoroughly entertained. An opening act of the band "That Saturday" got the show started and Jennifer Anyankor-Johnson and Hind Adamou performed a series of poems written by themselves. We then had the showcase of year 11 textile students with an alternative fashion show; the boys wearing the girls' dresses was a real showstopper!! Our very own songstress Georgia Bondy and the band then continued the musical theme with some amazing songs, followed by Chris Carter on bass guitar and Jess O'Brien showing off her talent for singing. The Oscars were another highlight of the show, decided on by staff, they are awards varying from most talented member of the year group to best hair cut ( or not ). We were also very lucky to have Sam Ebden and his French class, who had made a video about all the things they like and dislike, in French of course. Who would have thought rubber ducks and poor grammar could cause such a stir? Our very own resident beat box and rap artists, Aron Djandash, Jake Charie, Funmi Adesanya, Colin Wint and Louis Egyin-Buadu also provided some unique entertainment for the crowd. It was lovely to hear Ricky Ogiefo sing and then to see how the teachers can also be entertaining in their very own video of that classic song "Superman ". Thanks to Leah, Jess and Cation for all their hard work on that video. We also had the Spice Girls in town, fantastic to see Conor, Adam, Tom, Josh and Harry on stage, their outfits being slightly daring, and looking very uncomfortable. It's so difficult being a girl! Wendy Baah sang beautifully and the whole audience was in awe of her powerful voice. May we see her on the X Factor one day (after she has finished college and university of course)? The show had to come to an end and Yasmina Guemar was the final live act, performing the classic Fan Dance that was part of her GCSE dance exam. Once again we were all truly entertained by a talented member of year 11. After a fantastic afternoon of entertainment, we finished with Sam Ebden and Rebecca Rutherford's film about the real successes of year 11, all those achievements that a wonderful year group came to celebrate, and a goodbye video made by Chloe Furlong and Brooke Barfoot. The tutors were all brought onstage to be thanked by Ms Reed and the show was finished. It was a truly memorable few hours that was made possible by all the hard work of the participants: Mr Mehta, Ms Gardner, the ICT technicians, Travis and Ms Reed. We wish the year group great success in whatever they do in the future. They have been a wonderful group of students and we are all very proud of them. Ms Reed Head of Year 11 |
