April Jack Petchey Award PDF Print
School News - Awards News

jesse lucas.jpgWell done to Jesse Lucas 8P1, winner of the April Jack Petchey award - nominated by Ms Taylor and selected by the School Council.

I feel Jesse deserves recognition for the amount of effort and enthusiasm he puts into the school outside of the classroom.

This year alone, he has started up the Library Committee.  He is also part of the Charity Committee and Design Committee.

I am nominating Jesse because I genuinely feel he makes a positive difference to this school and we are fortunate to have such a helpful pupil. - Ms Taylor

Mr J Davisson

The Jack Petchey Award scheme is a popular and widely used scheme. It started in East London and because of its success, the Trustees of the Foundation agreed to offer the programme to other London boroughs and West Essex. Over £1.5 million is allocated to this scheme each year. The picture below shows Jack Petchey in front of the newly opened Academy in Hackney that bears his name.

Each month participating youth clubs, schools, colleges etc. select ONE young person to receive an Achievement Award.

jpetchey.jpgThe month’s winner receives a framed certificate and a cheque (payable to theschool/college/club) to be spent on a school, club or community project of the recipient’s choice. Cheques, frames, certificates etc. are sent by the Jack Petchey Foundation to schools, clubs etc. twice a year.

Jack Petchey Leader Awards are linked to the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme. Any school or club  participating in  the Achievement Award Scheme can nominate one "Leader" per year.

Awards are given to adults who have demonstrated, in an outstanding way, an ability to encourage and motivate young people aged 11-25 in London or Essex.

The scheme is open to Youth Leaders, School Teachers, Community Leaders, Volunteer Leaders, Sports Coaches and any other adults who have regular contact with young people.
