GCSE results Thursday 27th August 2009.
Congratulations to all our year 11 pupils who received their GCSE results today. Overall they produced an outstanding set of reults. There were many happy faces but also a few tears. 70% of all entries gained A*-C grades, nationally the comparable figure was 67%. 25% of all exam results were either A* or A grade. The overall pass rate was 98.9% (i.e. passes at grades A*-G) whilst the comparable national figure was 98.6%. 14 youngsters gained 10 or more GCSE passes at grade A or A*, a fantastic individual achievement for each person. 213 pupils out of 215 passed at least 5 subjects, and nobody failed to achieve at least one GCSE pass. 75% of all pupils achieved 5 or more passes at grades A*-C whilst 63% achieved 5 or more passes at grades A*-C including English and mathematics.
Government "League tables" comparing schools using a number of performance indicators, primarily the percentage of pupils gaining 5 or more GCSE at grades A*-C and the percentage of pupils gaining 5 or more GCSE at grades A*-C including English and maths, will not be available until January 2010. In October 2009 the government released provisional figures showing GCSE performance across the country and by Local Authority. These show that nationally 49.7% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Mathematics. At Highams Park school the equivalent figure is 63.2%, whilst in Waltham Forest the equivalent figure is 45.5%. You can find out more by visiting the DCSF website. School by School figures are planned to be released in January 2010.
Headteacher Mr Anthony Perrett said "Once again I am very pleased with these results as they show how well young people at Highams Park can achieve through their own hard work and the teaching they receive"
