The annual Waltham Forest Schools Indoor Rowing Competition took place on Thursday 22nd April 2010 at Kelmscott School in Walthamstow.  Despite stiff competition from schools such as Leytonstone, Chingford and George Mitchell the Highams Park competitors managed a medal haul.  Special mention goes to Corey Tucker who quite literally blew his competitors out of the water!

Pictured are all the medalists from the school.

Waltham Forest Schools Indoor Rowing Competition 2009

rowing 3.jpgOn 26th March 2009, the following pupils took part in the Borough Indoor Rowing Championships: Max Norrish 7B2, Sidney Bishop 7B1, Tia Warner 7G2, Eris Crawford 8P1, Jade Oseman 8B2, Emre Gozde 8G1, Charlotte Kipping 9P2, Giannini Hemmings 9G2, Chris Carter 10F1, Lucy Hopkins 10P1 and Luke Austin 11P1.  Most of the pupils who took part had never had experience of a rowing competition, but all pupils put in their best effort and succeeded in getting into to the medal places.  We had four medallists, Tia Warner - gold, Eris Crawford - gold, Chris Carter - silver and Luke Austin - gold.   A huge well done to these four who are now borough champions!

Following the Borough Indoor Championships, came the National Indoor Rowing Championships which were held at the indoor rowing centre at Battersea Park.  There were over 1000 participants at the event, with over one hundred participants per year group.  The following pupils took part: Tia Warner 7G2, Harrison Skinner 7F2, James Bloxham 7B1, Eris Crawford 8P1, Rosie Hudson-Edmonds 8G2, Hannah Brock 8F2, Emre Gozde 8G1, Josh Aggus 8F2, Chris Carter 10F1 and Luke Austin 11P1.  This was a tough competition, as there were children from all over the country competing.  Tia Warner put in a brave effort to come in 15th out of 136 competitors and Luke Austin came 13th out of 96.  Well done to all of our rowers. They were a credit to Highams Park.
