rednoseday1.jpg

On Friday 13th March, the school raised a total of £1400 for Comic Relief. Money was raised in a variety of ways, largely by a sponsored non uniform day. The school council who led the and planned many of the activities are grateful to the headteacher for allowing the non uniform day.

Other Activities' included:

  • The School council running a quiz
  • A Sponsored sing along with the school choir busking at a number of locations around the school
  • Gabby Webb 10P1, Koral Webb 12R, Annah Butt 10B2 and Michelle Vachha 10P2 raised over £56 by holding a cake sale at lunchtime.

Many thanks to all staff and pupils for a fun day, while supporting a very worthwhile cause. Well done to them all.

Below are some pictures showing the day.

Singing Club 4 Comic Relief

On Friday March 13th at lunchtime the Singing Club courageously became busking troubadours.  They sang ‘Hallelujah' in different places around the school.  There were also solos from Frances Russ, Rebekah Lazarus, Sidney Bishop, Tamara Buckton-Taylor, Lauren Payne, Nina Ndu and Emma Boulter.

The choir members were:  Natasha Tarler 12R, Alice Joslin 7P1, Lauren Payne 7B1,  Lizzie Edwards Slaughter 7B1, Rebekah Lazarus 7P1, Tamara Buckton-Taylor 7P1, Nina Ndu 7B1, Kirsty Merry 7G1, Emma Boulter 7B1, Gemma Player 7G1, Lauren Carr 7P1, Paige Thorpe 7F1, Frances Russ 8B2, Safina Parkar 8B1, Grace Brown 8B2, Chloe Bassett 8B1, Naazish Butt 8F2, Katie Rodhouse 8B1, Sophie Brown 9P1, Abigail McKenzie 9P1 and Jessica Thompson 8B1.

‘Doing something funny for money' is the mantra and wearing red noses whilst singing would have look hilarious but, in reality, we couldn't breathe let alone sing  with them on!

In the end I though it was funny enough to arrive unannounced and start to sing in the middle of the canteen whilst everyone was eating.  The look on everyone's face was priceless!

Then we went to the playground where we received the most tremendous support with many pupils joining in.

The whole Performing Arts Department made this into a real team effort with Mr. Mehta playing guitar for us.  Miss Bridge organised Stella McCartney T shirts for us all to wear.  Travers filmed the whole thing so we can enjoy the memory.  Mr. Lockwood, Miss Hall and Mr Steward valiantly shook their buckets collecting £127.63.  Miss Bridge, Miss Anson, Ms Caiger (from Art) and Ms Moore (from Maths) joined in the singing and Miss Robinson helped with general supervision.  Special Guest Performer Mrs E Stratford representing the office staff.

It is so rewarding to work with such inspirational youngsters and staff who are so willing to give up their time and participate or play their part in such worthwhile events.

Parents should be rightly proud.   A fantastic effort by all.

Thank you,

Mrs Jonns
