Over recent years we have seen the 6th Form grow in size with more and more students going on to University and Higher Education. Double the number of students go on to University courses than was the case five years ago. Exam results are very good, 98% of A-level entries pass. Those students that work hard and want to succeed will do so in our 6th Form.

You can view the courses we offer by clicking on Courses and Qualifications on the right. Also do read the pages on the 6th Form information menu. To be offered a place in the sixth form you will need the right academic qualifications for your chosen course and:

• A good attendance record;

• A good behaviour record;

• A responsible attitude;

• Determination and commitment;

Academic Qualifications Required

A-level (AS/A2) courses normally requires students to have at least 5 A*-Cs at GCSE or equivalent and good passes in the subjects you choose. 

BTEC courses normally students would be expected to have gained at least 4 A*-C GCSE passes at GCSE level

How to Apply 

Read all the information on this 6th form section of the website. Click on Courses and Qualifications and look carefully at the individual courses you are interested in. Complete an application form and return it to the 6th Form Secretary, Mrs. Jenny Browne preferably before the end of February. Applying before the end of February gives you the maximum chance of getting all your subject choices. We have over 15,000 combinations of courses that we normally provide. If you choose courses in an unusual combination that can't fit into our timetabled provision we will do our best to accommodate your combination but can't guarantee it will be possible. Furthermore if there aren't enough students wanting a particular course then that course is unlikely to run.

If you post your application form to us make sure you put the correct postage stamp on your envelope. If you put your form unfolded  into a large envelope you will need to put a LARGE LETTER stamp not just an ordinary stamp. Some application forms are not being delivered to us because the wrong stamp has been used. You can check what postage stamps are needed by looking at the Royal Mail website.

Late Applications

You can still apply after April, in fact right up to when courses start in September, sometimes after. 

If you start Year 12 somewhere else and feel it's not for you or you have completed Year 12 elsewhere but need a change, phone, email or write to us we will try to help with a place here if we can. 

EMA Scheme

EMA means the new Education Maintenance Allowance. This is a government initiative to help young people financially whilst studying at 6th form. Young people can claim up to £30 per week. For further information click on the links to the government website below:
